TCA Chemical Peel

Active Acne is mostly caused by underlying bacteria in the skin causing spots and scaring. A course of treatment with chemical peels is suggested to cleanse the skin, destroy the bacteria and renew and create heathy new skin layers. As the peel removes the layers of skin damaged by the acne scars the acid also kills the now exposed bacteria preventing any new acne forming and additional scaring being created.

ND YAG LASER Acne Treatment

ND YAG LASER

The ND YAG LASER is a near infrared light wave which penetrates deep under the skin without damage to surrounding tissue. It is very effective in treating the underlying bacterial build up which can cause Acne and Scarring. Treatment is quick with most sessions taking under 30m and with results visible in as little as 1-2 weeks.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is an exfoliating technique that uses a rotating instrument to remove the outer layers of skin, usually on the face. This treatment is popular with people who wish to improve the appearance of their skin. Some of the conditions it can treat include acne scars.

Active acne is mostly caused by underlying bacteria in the skin. In addition to removing the dead skin, microdermabrasion removes the bacteria and destroys it leading to the creation to renewed skin. The acne scarring is also removed with the microdermabrasion treating both with one method. Each treatment varies for each client, so book a free consultation to see what is best for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Acne treatment summary

If acne scars bother you, safe and effective treatment is available.

Treatments include laser treatments, minor skin surgeries, chemical peels, and fillers. A dermatologist or a dermatologic surgeon can perform these treatments in a medical office.

As we age, acne scars often become more noticeable because our skin loses collagen. The key to effective treatment is to select the best one for each scar type. For example, a patient who has some deep scars may benefit from getting a filler, which adds volume to the skin. This may be followed by laser treatments.

Before getting treatment for acne scars, it is important to clear your acne. New acne breakouts can lead to new acne scars. Having acne also means that your skin is inflamed. Inflammation reduces the effectiveness of treatment for acne scars.

To obtain the best results, a dermatologist first examines your skin. After the exam, some patients are surprised to learn that their acne scars are actually a different skin problem.

  • What is Acne?

Acne is a common skin condition where hair follicles become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria, leading to pimples, blackheads, and inflammation. It primarily affects the face, chest, and back, and is most common during adolescence due to hormonal changes, though it can occur at any age.

  • How many sessions should I have?

During your initial consultation we will determine the exact type of scarring. Any underlying acne must be treated and settled before treatment. In general acne scars will not disappear and appearances will improve by 50-70% following fully ablative combined laser resurfacing. Images to show the degree of improvement are available in the gallery. In general, this full improvement can be observed at roughly 4 months after treatment.
