The acid in the chemical peels brakes down the top layers of the skin peeling away these dead layers. This Allows new skin to form with more collagen making it firmer and healthier. As the top layers of skin are removed any damage in those layers are taken away. This includes damage caused by the sun, blemishes, pigmentation and hyperpigmentation. Chemical peals are non-invasive treatment and require little to no downtime for the the weaker peels but a longer period is needed for the stronger peels.

Active Acne is mostly caused by underlying bacteria in the skin causing spots and scaring. A course of treatment with chemical peels is suggested to cleanse the skin, destroy the bacteria and renew and create heathy new skin layers. As the peel removes the layers of skin damaged by the acne scars the acid also kills the now exposed bacteria preventing any new acne forming and additional scaring being created.
