What is Kenalog

Kenalog is a intramuscular steroid injection containing Triamcinolone Acetonide. It works by suppressing the immune system inflammatory response to allergens, thereby reducing the symptoms of allergies. It is not an anti-histamine and should not replace existing allergy medication

  • Is Kenalog Safe?

    Kenalog treatment is typically only administered once per season. On this basis, Kenalog is safe and effective for treatment of Hay Fever. Kenalog should not replace existing anti-histamine medication. All consultations are conducted with a Medical Doctor who will explain the treatment, side-effects and contra-indications before prescribing and adminstering

  • How long does Kenalog last?

    Kenalog for treatment of Hay Fever is normally administered once per season. Our clients are prescribed one dose in spring time which is sufficient to last through the summer months. One injection of Kenalog for Hay Fever treatment can last up to 6months.

  • is Kenalog prescribed on the NHS?

    Kenalog is not available on the NHS for use as a Hay Fever treatment. The role of Kenalog in suppressing the immune systems response to histamines and inflammation is not recommended by the NHS. Kenalog should only be used as a secondary measure to support on-going Anti-histamine medication including Nasal Sprays, Tablets and Eye Drops.

  • What are the side-effects of Kenalog?

    With short term use of Kenalog for treatment of Hay Fever there are very few side-effects. Local reactions to the injection, sometimes a headache of nausea are all common short-term effects of Kenalog. NL Clinic only prescribes through Medical Consultation, on the day of your consultation the Doctor will discuss side-effects and contra-indications before administering.

  • Are there any contra-indications to Kenalog before taking it?

    Kenalog works by suppressing the immunes systems response to inflammation and symptoms causes by Hay Fever. As a result, one of the biggest contra-indications is those suffering with active infections, cardiovascular disease or any on-going issues. It is not recommended if on any existing steroid based treatment, pregnant or under the age of 16. NL Clinic only prescribes through Medical Consultation, on the day of your consultation the Doctor will discuss side-effects and contra-indications before administering.
