Fixed Braces

Traditional fixed braces consist of small brackets that are  cemented to your teeth and joined together with wire. Fixed braces allow the orthodontist complete control of tooth movements and over time straighten the teeth and restores a more natural position.

Invisible Braces

Invisible braces treatment allows you to transform your smile with virtually invisible braces. The aligners are completely transparent; flexible retainers custom made to gradually straighten your teeth without using any metal wires or brackets.

Removable Appliances

Removable appliances are used to grip the teeth to keep the brace in place. They have a limited number of uses, mainly because they are restricted to moving a single tooth and widening either the upper or lower arches.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is orthodontics?

Orthodontics is the speciality of dentistry concerned with the diagnosis, management and treatment of irregularities and abnormalities of the teeth, face and jaws. Treatment is by the use of braces to improve the position of teeth, and in a growing patient, the modification of growth of the jaws, helping to correct discrepancies in the jaw size and improve a patient’s facial appearance.

  • Is it too late to get orthodontic treatment as an adult?

It’s never too late. Around 25% of orthodontic patients now are adults; as people become more image conscious, those who never received orthodontic treatment as a child, or whose teeth have reverted to their original positions, are opting for adult braces to straighten their smile.

There’s also new discreet orthodontic options available for adults worried about the impact of wearing visible braces.

  • Are there any foods that I shouldn't eat whilst having braces?

If you are wearing fixed braces, you should avoid hard food, such as raw vegetables, hard sweets, nuts and crusty breads and sticky food such as caramel, chewing gum and toffee, as these can loosen the brace over time and damage the wires.

  • Do braces hurt?

Having a brace fitted does not need any injections or drilling, and the main sensation is of occasional pressure as the parts of the brace are glued onto the teeth. It takes about a week to get used to the brace and occasionally some patients need to take a couple of painkillers after 24 hours when the brace starts to work.
